Visa Update From Mongolia

Here is an update letter form Mongolia:

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your prayers, emails, encouragement this month! We are so blessed to have this group at home who never lets us go!
 
This has been a very long month and a half working on our visa. I wont bore you with details, but it came down to just two days away from our visa being expired. Lots of things happened. Many NGO's ( non government organizations) and missionaries have been denied visa this year. After all that has transpired we were drawing a blank about what was next. Last night, I was ready to call the embassy, a lawyer and such.
 
However,Troy said, "No. we are not going to try to pull any more strings. If God wants us to stay HE will make it happen." Then he said, "Shari if we just stop and trust in God to handle this, than whatever happens we know it is His will...especially if we are approved tomorrow...we KNOW it was the Lords work."
 
I felt peace about this decision also. I just felt like we needed to let it go. We prayed this morning and told the Lord we both did not feel it was time to go, but whatever His will was we were ready to obey.
 
So with great joy, confidence and peace I share the great news that Troy has been approved to not only be in Mongolia, but to be the director of an NGO here in Mongolia, which takes a different type of visa that is more complicated to receive. We have been given another years residency and permission to direct. This frees up a lot of our student time. Now Troy will attend language school for only 6 hours a week instead of full time...and it gives us a lot of extra space to do the ministry work. Thank you Lord!
 
I am learning, that all things are possible...when the Lord decides.

Happy New Year!

I love the thought of a fresh start. As the new year approaches, I like to spend some time reflecting on where I am, where I've been, and where I need to go, and then with God's help make the much needed adjustments.

As I was doing some reading this morning I came across this brief devotional that is super relevant for all of us, by John Walker, author of 'Growing with Purpose',  as we begin a new and exciting year. Check it out:

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2 (NIV)

If you're thinking about making some New Year's Resolutions, consider this one from The Apostle: "This year I resolve to know nothing but Christ and him crucified."

Paul's message is radically simple: Salvation is in Christ alone. What does this mean?

It's not Christ plus your good behavior.
It's not Christ plus the years you taught a Bible study.
It's not Christ plus your tithe.
It's not Christ plus the church you attend.
It's not Christ plus the number of verses you memorize.
It's not Christ plus your title in the church.
It's not Christ plus wisdom from the latest Christian seminar.
It's not Christ plus a desert fast (or even a dessert fast!).
It's not Christ plus a good driving record.
It's not Christ plus well-behaved children.
It's not Christ plus the right job.
It's not Christ plus the right spouse.
It's not Christ plus the latest technology.
It's simply Christ. Christ plus nothing.

That's a message that is as right throughout the coming year as it will be in 2999. May your new resolution for the year be nothing but Christ and him crucified.

New Wednesday night series at HC

Great Job

Well, it has been a long time since I have written anything here, and I was thinking today would be a perfect time to say a great big thank you to all of our Home Team leaders at Harvest. I have been getting some amazing reports and stories on how the various groups are reaching out and living their faith out loud.

I love hearing the stories of meals being delivered to people NOT from the church, I love hearing of the stories of the different service projects being tackled, I love hearing how the groups are rallying around the people in their groups that are facing difficult times and I could keep going. 

I want you to know you all are doing a great job!

Great Weekend at Harvest

This past weekend was amazing at Harvest. Mosaic Student Ministries had an in-house retreat, and it was great to see all the students having such a great time. I love seeing students get connected with God in a fresh way, and then go out and set their worlds on fire with the love of Jesus -- it never gets old to me.

The Store was open agian on Saturday, and the team had the privilege of giving food and encouragement to over 110 families from our community. To all you volunteers who make the Store work, you are amazing.

Sunday, we had a great time as we wrapped up our series on the God Questions. We looked at the topic of God's Plan for our lives, and God was working on many of us.  Following the morning services the Harvest Riders sponsored a charity motorcycle ride and concert with White Horse to raise money for the Store. The band and vibe was great. Good work gang, and for all that donated, thanks!

It is exciting to see what God is doing with ordinary people as we humble ourselves and make ourselves available.

I have been getting emails from some of the attenders at Harvest telling me of the amazing things God is doing in their lives, and I want you to know, the stories are great! From people being healed, to a rekindled passion for God and His Word, to  stepping out and bringing their friends to church --- all great things.

Great Job Team

Yesterday, we kicked off our new two service schedule, and had a great turn out -- even in the midst of all the rain and basement flooding's! I want to say a great big thank you to all the volunteers who stepped up to make everything run so smoothly -- you all did great.

It is exciting to be a part of something that God is blessing, and the best is still ahead of us. Be praying for this coming weekend as we look at,  "Why Does God Allow Bad Things to Happen? Be sure to invite a friend to come with you to Harvest!

Two Service Launch

Hey everyone, just a quick reminder that tomorrow is our two-service launch! Our new service times are 9:00 and 10:45. We will be kicking off our new series, "God Questions". This is a series of messages that deal with everyday questions we are asking.

Be praying for lives to be changed and for all us to fall deeper in love with Jesus!
